On January 19th at 2.30 in Christ Church, Cheltenham, Ian Fox talked about music not normally played in church. Music played included videos of our President playing Teddy Bears’ Picnic, Postman Pat, recordings of Wolstenholme – The Question and The Answer. pieces for mechanical clocks by Beethoven and Haydn, Chelsea Fayre by Reginald Goss Custard, Dance of the Elves and When Johnnie Comes Marching Home by Edwin Lemare, Tritch Tratch Polka by Johann Strauss Jnr., a video of Hornpipe Humoresque by Noel Rawsthorne, Hungarian March for organ and percussion, Barrel Organ Monkey by Ian Farrington, a piece for organ action noise with no pipes, Song of Sunshine by Alfred Hollins, and two videos: Riff- Raff by Giles Swalne and as a finale Stars and Stripes Forever by Sousa as played by Cameron Carpenter. The music was largely enjoyed but one piece divided the twenty or so members who attended. Riff Raff was both hated and enjoyed. As usual, Mike Eddy delighted us with the traditional tea and cakes.
